MCN road tester to race in 2012 Isle of Man TT Lightweight class
07th March 2012
Motorcycle News Senior Road Tester Adam Child will compete in the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.
Child – or Chad as he’s known at MCN – will race in the Lightweight TT on a Kawasaki ER-6, with help from road racing expert Ryan Farquhar.
He has been professionally testing bikes for more than 10 years and has already had a taste of road racing at the North West 200, Oliver’s Mount and Paeroa New Zealand.
Chad will be riding for Ken Urwin Motorcycles, which is currently building the bike with specialist help from Farquhar and Maxton suspension.
MCN Editor Marc Potter said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Chad and another reason not to miss this year’s TT – we wish him the very best luck.”
As part of his introduction to the TT, Chad has already been to the Isle of Man learning the track from experts like TT rider liaison officers Johnny Barton, who will also race in this year’s Lightweight TT, and Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle.
Chad has been riding bikes since he was five, has held a road licence for 18 years and also holds an international ACU race licence. He won the Auto 66 club’s supersport championship in 2010 before moving into the world of road racing.
In his first year he competed at Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, finishing just outside the top 15, and came third in the Supersport class in New Zealand racing at Paeroa.
